Teacher Biography

Mr. Todd Mulder has been teaching music, band and choir for the past 7 years (the last 3 at SHPA). Mr. Mulder grew up in South Dakota where he attended Augustana College. He received his BA in Music Educaction, french horn performance and ESL instruction in 2011. 

After graduating Augustana, Mr. Mulder moved to Washington, DC where he worked as a reading teacher and intern with DC Public Schools in the library media services division. Here, Mr. Mulder helped to develop district-wide reading programs, literacy interventions and ESL instruction protocols. After DCPS, Mr. Mulder worked in both public and private schools in Virginia where he taught band, choir, general music and orchestra to students in grades K-8. Mr. Mulder also worked to develop jazz and music theater programs with Alexandria City Public Schools in Alexandria, Virginia which helped fund and support school music programs.

In 2015, Mr. Mulder relocated to Minnesota where he taught briefly in St. Paul and then at Seven Hills Preparatory Academy. Currently, Mr. Mulder is a graduate student at the University of Minnesota pursuing a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership and Principal Licensure. 

In his spare time, Mr. Mulder enjoys traveling the globe with his husband (they have been to France, Germany, India, Bahamas, Mexico and England), spending time with pets, going to movies, and of course music! Mr. Mulder plays piano, organ, french horn, flute and violin.
