READING SEMINAR IS A NOW GRADED, TRIMESTER CLASS.
It meets daily for one trimester.
In addition to reading, we will also focus on vocabulary development and writing.
Generally speaking, each week will break down as follows:
- 3 days of dedicated reading (M-W-F)
- 1 full day vocabulary development (T) quizzes on Fridays
- 1 full day of writing and editing (R)
MATERIALS: You will need to provide your own single subject notebook every class and a writing utensil. This will serve as your Reader’s & Writer’s Notebook, and it will be a big part of your learning, our conversations, and your grade.
GRADING: 40% daily class participation (process work)
60% assessments (product work)
HOMEWORK: There usually will not be homework, but I always recommend you find time to read FOR FUN! It is the best way to build vocabulary, improve your writing, and become a more sophisticated reader.
